Canning

In the past few years, I have been canning strawberry jam. Our family will eat a ton of PB&J sandwiches. It is a staple in our house. I decided that it was probably healthier to can our own jam. I like to use the low sugar recipes. I would really like to use a no sugar added recipe, but I need to find a good one. A few years ago I canned peaches from the peach trees in our back yard. The last few years our winters have been really cold and the trees didn’t do so well. I hope that this year we will get a few peaches out of them. They are really tasty! I do can a lot of jars of apple sauce. I make it several ways and it always comes out wonderful. I can about 50 jars and put some in to squeeze type pouches for the younger ones. All I have to do is take it out of the freezer, put it in the fridge, and it is ready for the next day. I am planning on canning a lot this coming growing season. IMG_1658
